Teaser Tuesday- Pompeii

01 Jul

Donning my time traveller’s outfit this week to take the plunge into the reasonings behind the eruption of Mount Vesuvius as told in Robert Harris’s thrilling epic ‘Pompeii’ which, coincidentally, I first read on the plane to Italy on a school Classics trip!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author too so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers! 🙂

‘I’m an engineer Admiral’, said Attilus tactfully. ‘Not a philosopher’. In his view they were wasting time. He thought of mentioning the strange behaviour of the vapour of the vapour on the hillside that morning but decided against it.’

Roman Empire setting? Historical fiction? I’m in! Did this book get turned into a movie?

Sadly not- the movie ‘Pompeii’ with Kit Harrington is based on the same events but telling it from a different prospective (I think- I haven’t actually seen it yet!) but I really wish Harris could give the film rights to someone because it would be one epic film!
