Teaser Tuesday- Memoirs of a Geisha

10 Jun

Taking a small break from A Song of Ice and Fire this week to re-read Arthur Golden’s wonderful ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ for Teaser Tuesday- enjoy!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author too so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers! 🙂

‘You can imagine how shocked I was when I saw them; for there, on the other side of the table, was the one woman I would have given anything to avoid. It was Hatsumono, smiling at me, and beside her sat Pumpkin’.

The scene you are sharing sounds tense! I’ve never read the book, just saw the movie, and since I saw the movie years ago lol I’m curious as to who is Pumpkin!

Pumpkin is Chiyo/Sayuri’s friend in their oikya- they’re both apprentice geisha’s and she’s adorably written by Golden! I’ve never seen the movie but I really want to- just read the book countless times! Do read the book if you can- it’s wonderful!

I totally will! I’m trying to achieve my Book to Movie challenge goal and this book would counts since a movie was made; thanks! 🙂
